What cookies are
Cookies are small text files that a website can ask your browser to store on your device. They are widely used to make websites work, to remember your preferences between visits, and to measure how a site is being used. Some cookies last only as long as the browser tab is open; others remain for a defined period unless you clear them.
Why we use cookies
We use cookies for three reasons.
- To make the site work — for example, to remember the choice you made on the cookie banner so we do not ask you again on every page.
- To understand how the site is being used, so we can improve it — only if you accept analytics cookies.
- To remember your cookie consent itself.
We do not use cookies for advertising or for cross-site tracking.
Categories of cookies we use
Strictly necessary
The site sets a single strictly necessary cookie called unh-cookie-consent. Its only job is to remember whether you accepted or rejected analytics cookies. Without it, the consent banner would appear on every page load. Strictly necessary cookies are set regardless of consent because the site cannot reasonably work without them, and PECR allows for this category. The cookie’s full details are in the Cookie List.
Analytics
We currently have no analytics cookies active on this site. When we activate Google Analytics 4 or Microsoft Clarity (or any equivalent), this section will be updated to list each cookie those tools set, and the Cookie List will be updated at the same time. Analytics cookies are loaded only after you give explicit consent via the banner.
Marketing and advertising
None. We do not run ad-retargeting on this site, and we do not load any third-party marketing pixels.
How to manage your consent
The first time you visit this site, a cookie banner appears at the bottom of every page. You can accept all cookies, reject everything that is not strictly necessary, or follow the link to read this policy. Your choice is remembered for one year via the unh-cookie-consent cookie described above.
To revisit the choice, clear the unh-cookie-consent cookie from your browser’s site-data settings. The banner will appear again on your next visit and you can answer it differently.
Third-party cookies
None at present. When we activate analytics tags, the corresponding cookies will be listed in the Cookie List and the underlying providers will be named on the Sub-processors page so you can see exactly who receives data and on what legal basis.
Browser controls
All major browsers give you settings to block or delete cookies, either site-by-site or for all sites at once. You can also use private or incognito modes, which discard cookies at the end of the session. A generic guide to browser cookie controls is published at aboutcookies.org. Note that blocking strictly necessary cookies may stop parts of any website from working as intended — this is true of most sites, not just ours.
Cookie list
The complete, current list of cookies this site can set is published at Cookie List. We update that page every time a cookie is added, removed, or has its lifetime changed.
Changes to this policy
We review this policy at least once a year, and earlier whenever the cookies we use change. The version number at the top of this page reflects the current version. If we activate analytics or any other category of cookie, we will both update this policy and prompt you to give a fresh consent decision.
